A Pre-order lets you accept payment immediately for a product that will be delivered on a future date. This is ideal for albums still in production, physical merchandise being manufactured, or exclusive access to upcoming events.
Pre-orders vs Drop Events
Both Pre-orders and Drop Events involve a future release date, but they work differently:
Pre-order — Payment is taken immediately when the fan purchases. They are guaranteed a copy when it's delivered. Great for limited runs where you want to gauge demand before production.
Drop Event — The product becomes available at a specific date and time. No payment is taken until the drop goes live and the fan actually clicks Buy.
Setting Up a Pre-order
When creating or editing a product in the SELL dashboard, toggle the Pre-order option and set the delivery date — the date when the product will be available to the buyer.
Go to SELL → Products.
Create a new product or edit an existing one.
Enable the Pre-order toggle.
Set the Delivery Date — when the product will be accessible to buyers.
Publish the product — it appears on your profile with a Pre-order badge.
What Buyers See
On your public profile, pre-order products are marked with a blue Pre-order badge and show the expected delivery date. Buyers pay immediately and the product is added to their Vault library. They can access it once the delivery date arrives.
Tips for Pre-orders
Combine a pre-order with a Drop Event for maximum launch excitement.
Use pre-orders to fund production before it begins.
Set a realistic delivery date — you can always deliver early, but late delivery may frustrate buyers.
Announce your pre-order on social media using your MyKofre ID.
